| You can always approach the BBC, local radio and TV companies to have a visit or work experience or volunteer. If you can persuade them that you have the right personality and motivation, then this is a good way of taking your first step in the business. Once there and you've shown them how talented you are they'll soon know how much they'll miss you when you leave and they may even try to find a way of keeping you! |

| Many people working in radio and TV made their debuts in hospital radio. Their studios and equipment are usually of a very good standard and they offer a varied schedule of programmes so you're sure to be able to fit in somewhere. Hospital Radio stations are voluntary organisations with the specific aims of making life in hospital more pleasant and interesting for patients. They rely on volunteers like you to keep the service running providing training and support along the way and, there are many roles which volunteers can take. All the volunteers we know say its great fun and they like making a positive contribution to in-patients. You can contact your local hospital to enquire about hospital radio. |
