See what the Radioskills trainees are up to now!

Good Evening,
While most of the trainees are eating dinner or enjoying a movie on this wet Thursday evening, David and I are here learning all about Radio!

However, we are quite excited this evening as earlier this week Ken confirmed who will be doing which shows on Monster FM in September and David and I have landed the Sunday morning slot so we had better set our alarms early! It also means that we have to get cracking on our features for the station!

So a busy night tonight! We have done a quick recording and editing exercise to bank as evidence for the VQ and I have managed contact a couple of potential interviewees for one of my features, which is great as one of the challenges of doing this course in the evening is coaxing people into recording interviews out with the working day! (Which can require all our charms )

Time is ticking on and I need to finish up so catch you later!

It's been alarmingly quiet today...just me and Gemma...oh, Richard just walked in! Hurrah!

Today I 'ave been mostly catching up on deadlines due to existing in a constant state of death throe-ing last week (ok, I had a bad cold...).

Gemma has been a star and done the showbiz news and events. I did the business news and faffed about, recording and editing. But I got stuff done, so have patted myself on the back and might treat myself to a glass of wine later.....

I also tried to get Malcolm (our Chief Engineer) to give me an interview, but he was quite reluctant - I told him it wasn't him who would be judged on his speaking skills, it would be me! Alas, this line of persuasion did not work...so I will be approaching another as-yet unwitting member of staff tomorrow morning.....muaahaha!

Hello Peeps!

The tasks and actvities have been flowing thick and fast this week here at Radioskills.

Nina and I had a very productive meeting at the Shirlie Project.  We are getting involved with them to make an hour long documentary feature.  It is very exciting and very interesting.  I have also been busy getting in touch with community and charity organisations to arrange vox pop style interviews. Josey and I are going to be working on these together and we have a few lined up.

We are working on writing a Radio Commercial for James, we also finished off our News Feature, recorded a few more 15 min Shows and are working on our Studio Interviews.  I did mine with Helen, MFR's Queen of Country.  She is so lovely to talk to, I could of chatted to her all day and she gave me a compliment saying that I listened well to what she said and responded accordingly.  Over the next few weeks we are getting to do an ISDN interview - which is an interview done over the phone that has excellent quality sound.  We sat in with Diane as a taster and will prepare and record our own very soon.  It is quite a nerve racking thought.

My overwhelming feeling with Radioskills is that there is no chance to panic and think "I can't do that!"
We are expected to be able to do it, which is why we have this fantastic opportunity.  Then it's just a case of going for it! It's brilliant because I have done so many things already, that I would never have thought little ole me would be able to do! Then everytime you get feed back from your work - you learn a wee bit more and feel more confident.  Fantastic!

Looking forward to Friday evening - we are all heading out for something to eat and then over to watch Ginno in Strictly Come Dancing.  We get to dress up and spend even more time together.

Unfortunately I have to go into hospital on Monday so I'm going to miss a whole week of my training - gutted.  I am going to be SO bored at home recovering and plus I will really miss everyone!

Ta Ta for Noo

Phew! Just when we all thought we were on top of things and were handling all the tasks we had...we got given a fresh batch yesterday! This week we're being let loose as interviewers so we're all stalking around the MFR building picking out our very obliging interviewees  Mwahaha!!

We're also going to be doing more Vox Pops (When we get little audio clips of the public expressing their opinions) so that we get used to interviewing complete strangers. It's all good fun! It's such a lovely day today a few of us are thinking we might try our luck Vox Popping this afternoon...WATCH OUT!!

Other than that we're all getting on with the Showbiz News, Business News, Events and of course blogging as usual    Right, must get back to it!! Toodleoo!

Hey everyone!

We had a FANTABULOUS BBQ last night, to celebrate MFR's Sony award, and nominations. Sadly, I left early but apparently a good night was had by all. So much so, the office was rather quiet this morning....

Then away everyone went for an Indian meal for lunch! MMM!

Today it was just the usual ran dan for the Radioskills lot. Events, showbiz, business news, etc but we were also finishing off our tasks. To make room for more tomorrow :(. Just kidding! We love the tasks really! (ish!)

Catch up soon! xxx
