March 2010

See what the Radioskills trainees are up to now!

Well today I've been doing all areas of Radio Skills.

I got in just after 12 and started to prepare a script for the Travel Bulletin on Lunchtime Live. I've only done this a couple of times, and my Scottish Geography isn't the greatest. It doesn't help that MFR covers an area the size of Belgium. After getting my head around the roadworks and delays, I went on air just after the News and Sport and read my script.

It might sound daft to say that we write scripts for Travel Bulletins, but even a list of delays can trip you up on air, so best to be prepared, at least until you're a Pro like Nicola who usually does it.

After that I went back to my desk, had my review and did some more work on my Meatloaf feature. Ginno gave me some feedback for it, and so I needed to tweak it a bit more.

I'm off to finish now, and back tomorrow for more Travel. :-)

Feasgar math a h-uile duine! Good Evening everyone! feskir mah uh hooluh doonyuh!

We 3 Ru-Ra girls, Fiona, Janice and Ann are over the moon  that we're being given the chance to present a daily Gaelic show later this year as part of the Monster FM RSL.  We learned a lot presenting our Ru-Ra show during 2009 and are pleased that we'll get the chance to develop the skills we've already learned.
Watch this space for news of the show, while we work out how we can attract even more listeners  to Gaelic

Tapadh leibh agus oidhche mhath! Thanks and good night! tapa lyve agiss eye-chuh vah!

Tonight, I've been busy editing my interview for my holiday feature on naturism!
Last week I had an interview with this lovely man who's a naturist and I've just listened back to it now. God I hate my voice, but then so do most people, I guess... But luckily I can edit that out! Hehe!
So that's all I've done today, better do some more things! I still need to record my voiceover for the feature AND get some backing music.
I'm thinking "You Can Leave Your Hat On" by Tom Jones and "Sexy Thing" by Hot Chocolate, thanks to the help of Joey and David
Anyway, I better get back to work...

I've come in early today to get stuff done coz my parents are visiting from Ireland, and mum wants to hear me on the radio. lol

Got in at just after 9 and think I forgot to put my teeth in this morning, because I kept fluffing the showbiz voiceover. :-)

Sometimes you just get mornings like that, where your tongue just keeps getting tied. Other times it goes perfect first time... this wasn't one of those.

Today's stories were about Sheryl Crow starring in Cougar Town and Alexandra Burke advertising for fans to star in her next video. See the exciting stuff we get to report on? lol

Gonna do some VQ stuff now and hopefully get one element completely finished this month.
