Gooood morning everyone!

I'm going to try and keep this short and sweet because Virginia and I have a mountain of things to do today! Virginia's through in the studio doing her 2nd Showbiz News ever, very exciting stuff, she's a pro

I've been on the phone and typing up community events for our 'What's On' page all morning but I think I've finally got it covered! I'm tackling the dreaded Business News next and it seems to be a slow news day so far so I'm going to have to scrape around to find anything worth mentioning. This ISN'T procrastination... honestly  I'm hoping some fresh stories will have magically appeared by the time I've finished writing this!

What else? We've all been beavering away at the tasks we've been set by Diane and Ginno. Lots of progress has been made but I know none of us will relax until they're completely finished. We're a conscientious bunch! I'm aiming to get both of mine finished today, but we shall see...the Radioskills desk is an unpredictable place!

Well today I finally got the chance to overcome my fear of doing Showbiz.......and I have prettty much conquered it.  After almost 3 weeks of avoiding doing it, I actually really enjoyed doing it.  As with everything else here at Radioskills you have to do something to learn how to do it.  So, I did it quite a few times before I was confident that I had made a half decent effort.  I hope to get the chance to do it again tommorow.  That way I can reinforce the progress I made today.

The desk no longer seems so scary which is good because at the tail end of this week/beginning of next week we have to do our 15 minute show - which I am now actually looking forward to!

I have also been writing my synopsis, plan & script for our Ross County Promo.  I also gathered up all the elements I want to include in the piece.  Feeling very organised so now I need to just got to put it all together - might be doing some 'homework' this weekend.  note to baby sister - you can still come from lunch, I just might not be so attentive - hey you can help me peep!

Oohh I'm going to post a picture below of the sickly, sweet, super pink, haribo clad birthday cake that I made for Diane last week - it was filled with butter cream & jam - she loved it!!!

Okay so maybe not a road trip. We're going into town as roving reporters collecting vox pops for our top secret RSL. Ha ha ha! You'll hear more about that soon. But it's especially exciting, not JUST because we get to have some fresh air, or even because we get to harrangue strangers with a microphone...We get to wear the MFR jackets!  OH YEAH!

Other than that little bit of excitement, we are doing our usual daily chores, and slogging away with our tasks for this coming fornight. These tasks are actually really fun, because we've got artistic license on this!

Anyway, I don't want THIS blog to take up too much of your time....like my first one. So I shall say tarrah for now. Byeee!

Wow, what a week it's been! I was looking forward to a nice, quiet friday morning here but when I got in I discovered that most of the Radioskills team had opted to take the day off...so there are less people to do the things we need to do! Fortunately I am not alone today, Halde is here too

We divvied up the work this morning so Halde was King of Community Action while I took on the Showbiz News and Andrew thankfully took on what I consider to be the most stressful task: The Business News *insert ominous/terrifying music here*

Today I discovered the slightly stressful side of radio. You know when you're just having 'one of those days' where EVERYTHING goes totally wrong despite your best efforts? Well, that was me with the Showbiz News today. I think it's safe to say that all we trainees have been getting better/faster at all the tasks we have to do throughout the day...so it's a little disheartening when you suddenly feel like you're back to square one. I'd been getting quicker at getting the Showbiz News done, but today it took me no less than an hour! First I couldn't get my breathing right (who knew such a basic thing could be so tricky?!), then I was too close to the mic, then I managed to get a good recording.....but then I somehow managed to delete it in the process of trying to save it, then I pushed the wrong button so the end of the recording went funny, THEN I started getting nervous so I couldn't get past the first story etc etc etc. Finally, I managed to get something acceptable recorded, which is just as well because I was about to fall into a gibbering heap on the floor. It's all good fun

It was actually a GOOD thing (in hindsight!) that things went wrong because it's always important to know that you can keep calm when the pressure is mounting

Right, I have to head out the door right now for a driving lesson...just when I thought the stresses for today were over!!
